Pastor John Hill

John came to the Lord in 1975 and experienced an immediate, complete change in his life.

From that day forward, John immersed himself in the Word and joined a local church.  Since his conversion, John has served in many capacities in a variety of church settings.  John felt called to pastoral ministry in 1995 and began to seek training and counsel.

He was ordained to pastoral ministry in 1998 and was called as Pastor of Bealeton Baptist Church in Bealeton, Virginia.  As Pastor, John served bi-vocationally and was President of a small engineering firm in Northern Virginia. John served Bealeton Baptist Church until 2001, when the growth of the church and the demands of the company compelled him to devote himself full-time to the engineering firm.  Following the sale of the firm in and retirement, John aided another engineering firm in Buffalo, NY while also serving at Randall Baptist Church of Amherst, NY in teaching and other positions for four years.

John retired again and convinced Anne to move to the island of St. John, of the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Anne and John joined a young church on St. John which met on the beach for worship.  John became actively involved in Freshwater Church, both teaching and preaching and in 2015, he was called to be Co-Pastor. Following the departure of the Founding Pastor, John was called by Freshwater Church to be the Pastor in August, 2017.

While Pastor of Freshwater Church, the island suffered tremendous devastation following the twin hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.  John’s job quickly included Disaster Relief Coordinator, and the small island church hosted 15 short-term missions teams in our homes who came to the island to provide meals, debris removal and hope in a time of great need.  Many of the relationships formed in the aftermath of the hurricane became abiding, deep friendships.

In 2021, John and Anne felt it was time to return to the mainland United States and they relocated to the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  John introduced himself to the local Baptist Associations and began preaching on an as-needed basis in several churches in the Delmarva region.  Anne and John became members of First Baptist Church of Easton and enjoyed teaching Bible studies and getting to know people in their new area.

John was introduced to 300 Church (now Harrington Baptist Church) when he was asked to preach there for several Sundays. It was clear the Lord had something in mind for John and 300 Church, and in August, 2022, John became the Pastor of 300 Church (renamed Harrington Baptist Church in September 2022).

John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from the University of Pittsburgh; a Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and has received seminary level training on a formal and informal basis through self-study and intensive courses.  John has been married to his wife, Anne, since 1980.  They have five children and four grandchildren.
