Pastor Rodney Collins

Rodney has lived most of his days in Harrington, Delaware, and many of those days
have been spent in the learning, serving, and equipping taught at Harrington Baptist
Church.

Rodney’s parents, his father a Harrington postal worker and his mother a homemaker,
instilled in him the importance of knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior from his earliest
days of childhood. As Rodney learned under the instruction of dedicated Sunday
School teachers at Harrington Baptist Church and through the faithful teaching of the
Bible by the church’s pastors, he came to Christ at an evangelistic meeting in 1979,
and his life has been forever changed.

As Rodney finished high school, he felt God calling him to be trained to become an
elementary school teacher. He pursued and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early
Childhood and Elementary Education from Wilmington College in 1994. He was then
hired by the Lake Forest School District, where he taught elementary students in
grades 4 and 5 for the next twenty-five years. Along the way, Rodney added a
Master’s Degree in Applied Educational Technology to his training.
Rodney was then hired by the Cape Henlopen School District in 2019, where he taught
grade 8 U.S. History for the remaining five years of his teaching career.
Throughout his teaching career, Rodney continued to attend and serve Harrington
Baptist Church for most of those years. He has served as a Bible teacher, a deacon,
and as the Christian Education Director under Pastors Clayton Clark and Dan Walton.
During a season of revitalization at Harrington Baptist Church from 2017-2018,
Rodney obtained a Master of Theological Studies Degree from Midwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.

Rodney and his family returned to Harrington Baptist Church in August, 2022 after a
time of service in two other local churches. He was ordained to pastoral ministry in
April, 2024 by an ordination council led by Pastor John Hill. He was installed as a
co-pastor at Harrington Baptist Church the day after his ordination.

Rodney serves Harrington Baptist Church as a bi-vocational pastor. He works fulltime
at Ashley Fence LLC in Harrington. Rodney has been married to Cindy, the love
of his life, since May, 2001. Cindy and Rodney have three sons – Reed, Jonas, and
Silas.
