What To Expect

We know going to a new church for the first time can sometimes be a daunting task. So here are some questions and answers to help you know what to expect when you come to Harrington Baptist Church.

What time does church start? When should I arrive to get a good seat?

Our Sunday Morning Service starts at 10:00 AM. People usually start arriving at 9:45 AM. You can also join us for free hot breakfast in the fellowship hall starting at 9:15 AM

Did you say ‘free hot breakfast’?

Yes, we did! Please join us for a free breakfast that typically includes eggs, meat, biscuits, coffee, tea, and other beverages. It is served buffet style from about 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM. It’s a great way to start the morning and get to know some of the people of Harrington Baptist Church.

What should I wear?

We dont require you to wear fancy dress clothes. You and your family can wear whatever you feel comfortable in to worship and learn about Jesus. The social atmosphere is that of a friendly country church. Though please use modesty in the summer months.

Where do I park?

There is a good sized parking lot behind the church. There is an entrance door back there too. There is also parking in front of the church next to the grassy front lawn; no need to park on the street. We also have some nice sandwich board signs to help you find an entrance door.

Will you make me stand up and introduce myself and my family?

No. Though we will probably notice that you are new and come over and introduce ourselves and make you feel welcome.

Is there stuff for the kids to do?

Yes. Your kids can stay with you during the entire service or be dismissed right after the worship song singing to go to participate in age related study and activities. We have several classrooms that cater to children infant through 8 years old. We typically separate children by age group – unless, of course, siblings rely on one another for comfort in a new environment. Our children’s ministry and staff love children and take time weekly to prepare a Bible oriented craft for learning and fun.

What music do you play?

The worship songs sung at Harrington Baptist Church are Bible-based. Our worship style is contemporary with the regular inclusion of a traditional hymn. The intent is for congregational participation in singing to worship Christ and encourage one another. We currently have a keyboardist, main singer, and a guitar player leading the congregation in singing.

Do you do communion every Sunday?

No. We offer communion about once a month in our Sunday Morning Service. If you attend when we are offering communion, please feel free to participate if you acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for your sins.

What are the sermons like? Are they fire and brimstone or fluffy story time?

Harrington Baptist Church uses what is called ‘expository’ preaching. We move through a book of the Bible verse by verse without skipping any verses. We will talk about the history and original meaning of the verses as they were written to their original audiences and then discuss how we can apply that to our lives today.

How long are services?

About an hour. Its usually half singing and half preaching and teaching.

We hope this information is helpful.

And we look forward to seeing you at Harrington Baptist Church soon.
